The Lost Coast - Trinity Alps Ride Sept. 25-27, 1999 |

| This is a 3-day (Saturday, Sunday, & Monday) ride with a
2-day option for those who can't take Monday off. Like our standard Eureka ride,
we'll meet Saturday morning for a late (10AM) breakfast at the Horn of Zeese in Boonville
on Hwy-128. We'll continue towards the coast with a jog through Comptche. Next
will be everyone's favorite section of Hwy-1 to Leggett, 101, & the Avenue of the
Giants. Then its out through Honeydew & Petrolia to the Lost Coast Highway past
Cape Mendocino & into Ferndale. We'll head north to Eureka & the Ramada Inn
with its giant Jacuzzi for the evening. While the cheapskates whine & go to the
Lost Coast Brewery for greasy barfood & beer, the rest of us will dine in one of the
best seafood restaurants on the north coast. On Sunday, we'll take 101 south to head inland on the legendary Hwy-36. After a break & gas at the Wildwood Store & Gas, the pansy-ass, 2-day wusses can continue on Hwy-36 & complete the standard, boring Eureka ride to Red Bluff, south through Stonyford, & home. The rest of the real ride will head north on Wildwood Rd. & wind our way over Hayfork Summit on Hwy-3 to Weaverville for lunch. Then its north on Hwy-3 over Scott Mtn. Summit to Calahan. Here begins the highlight of the trip; the roads that parallel the 2 forks of the Salmon river. 1st will be Cecilville Rd. to the town of "Forks of Salmon" & the treacherous Salmon River Rd. to Somes Bar. Then we turn around, head back through Forks of Salmon, and take Sawyers Bar Rd. through Sawyers Bar, & over Forest Mtn. Summit to the Motel Etna for the evening. We have a choice of Bob's Ranch House & Sengthong's Thai Cafe for dinner. Monday, we'll head south on Hwy-3, Rush Creek Rd. thru Lewiston & Hwy-299 into Redding. Then its road A16 (Placer Rd. & Platina Rd.) to Platina on Hwy-36, east to Red Bluff, south through Stonyford & home. |

Saturday night accomodations: Sunday night accomodations: Currently more rooms are available at each location, but this is all I have reserved for now. If you want a guaranteed bed/room from above, send a check for the correct amount, made out to "Mike Chaplin" to; Mike Chaplin & received before Thursday, Sept. 23rd. These rooms are available on a 1st check received - 1st served basis. Extra room reservations will be canceled. Call if you want or need different accomodations. |
