March 29,1928 - March 6, 2004
My Dad was a kind, loving
individual. He was a dedicated father and husband. An accomplished businessman,
Artist and Craftsman. He found good in everyone. He partnered with my Uncle, Jim
Munroe of Munroe Motors back in 1966. Motorcycles were his life. He lived and
breathed them. He was Treasurer of Northstars Motorcycle Club in San Francisco
for nearly 25 years. As my Dad put it..."I guess I was the only one they could
trust". For those of you who would remember back on June 28th, 1998, he was in a
terrible motorcycle accident in Napa County which nearly took his life. But he
fooled them all!!! That was MY DAD!
He was not only a husband to my Mom but her
dearest friend. He was my friend too. Dad was quite the “dare devil”. He loved a
challenge. I guess fathering 6 children kept him in constant challenge! Dad
would always keep my Mom on her toes with continuous surprises and his
never-ending humor. He was full of life and a real trooper in all circumstances,
even up to the end. I’m thankful that my Dad had received Christ as his Lord and
Savior knowing that we will be together again someday.
Dad died at 7:20pm last Saturday night at my home from complications associated
with Small Intestinal Cancer. We moved my parents into our house 3 weeks
(Valentine's Day) prior as Dad was under Hospice Care and Mom wasn't able to
care for him. I felt honored and blessed that God had chosen me for this task.
God is good!!
I chose these passages for my Dad.
2 Cor 5:1-10,
Our Heavenly Dwelling
1Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we
have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
2Meanwhile we groan, longing to be clothed with our heavenly
dwelling, 3because when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.
4For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we
do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling, so
that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. 5Now it is God who
has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit,
guaranteeing what is to come.
6Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at
home in the body we are away from the Lord. 7We live by faith, not by
sight. 8We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the
body and at home with the Lord. 9So we make it our goal to please
him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. 10For we
must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive
what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
John 14:1-3
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God[1]
; trust also in me. 2In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were
not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to
be with me that you also may be where I am.
Jeremiah 29:11.
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans
to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
If I were to guess as to
which passage was my Dad’s favorite I’d have to say
Proverbs 3:5-6.
5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight
I miss him terribly. However, I have comfort knowing he’s with my Lord as I end
with Psalm
116:8-9
8 For you, O LORD , have delivered my soul from death,
my eyes from tears,
my feet from stumbling,
9 that I may walk before the LORD
in the land of the living.
I love you Dad!
Love, Janie
Dad will be buried today, Thursday March 11th at 2pm at this quaint little
cemetery near my parents house. This was his wishes. Their Pastor will do a
small grave side service with just Todd, Mom, my step-children Kristin and Eric,
neighbors and a couple that my parents have known for years.
I pray this email blesses ALL of you. I found the email addresses at my Dad's
house. Please pass it on to anyone I may have missed.
...
God bless,
