Gretchen Hoffman & Roozbeh
Chubak both had more than the 3-ride minimum, and each only needed to attend one
more meeting to meet that requirement. It was discovered that long-time guest &
crazy-man Joel Buck had long ago met all of the requirements and since he
showed up tonight, what the hell, we voted him in! Then we determined that Steve
Hursh had actually been voted into the Northstars back in his Harley days.
He said he quit riding with the club because he "couldn't keep up". He
doesn't seem to have that problem since switching to the Fruitbikes. Mr. Vice
said "Once a Northstar, always a Northstar", or
something profound like that, and told Steve to pay this year's dues and he would be a
member in good standing again. Just like that, we had two new-old members! Mark Anderson said the Skaggs Springs & AFM at Sears Point Ride would be August 29th. We would leave from the Lucas Valley Rd. Exit off Hwy-101 at 7:30AM sharp to ride up to the Station House in Point Reyes for breakfast. Don't be late, or you'll be eating breakfast with the SMR crowd that we should be arriving ahead of. The Annual, Special Meeting at the Anchor Brewing Co., arranged by Bob Anders, will be this Wednesday, August 25th. Arrive promptly for a meeting to start at 6:30PM since we'll be in the tasting room on the 3rd floor of a locked building. Beer & Dogs available. The discussion turned to New Bikes and the place went WILD with annoucements of new DP & dirtbikes as follows; Steve Schurman bought Mark Boyd's old KTM 620RXC, guest Roozbeh Chubak - a brand-spankin' new XR650L, Earl Minkler - a previously owned, but well setup XR400, Joel Buck - a new XR400, and last but not least, John Mulvihill rode up on his new, Butt-Ugly Green KLR650 Girlie-bike. HEY MATT, I think we need to put some DP rides back on the calendar! Pete Silva told us about being Wendy's monkey on her sidehack rig for the races at Willow Springs. |
Patrick Moriarty, Matt Brockway, Roozbeh Chubak,
& Tom Moress(sp?) did a north-bay ride of backroads & twisties on some
weekend I didn't catch. Mark Anderson & Patrick Moriarty joined René & the rest of the COPs for a spirited romp down Hwy-101 for the WSB weekend at Laguna Seca. Seems the official Pace through traffic was an eye-opener for the 2 non-badged ones. John Mulvihill & others related the story of the huge traffic back-up on Hwy-1 heading north that Sunday evening. While most of the bikes were heading up the shoulder, pretending to lane-share with the stopped car traffic, a certain old gal in a Mercedes-Benz was attempting to swerve onto the shoulder to express her displeasure at the bikes going by. Well, John "I'll get Her!" Mulvihill pulls along her left side on the centerline & proceeds to read her the riot act & blow his new ultra-loud, scare the bitch horns. That is 'til the horn blows the ignition fuse it was mistakenly wired to & killed the ST4 while in the middle of no-man's land. OOPS!!! The Dardanelles Sierra Ride, July 24-25, started innocently enough. I arrived at the Country Waffle in Clayton for breakfast to find Earl Minkler, John Mulvihill, Roozbeh Chubak, Michael Krone, Steve Hursh, & my guest Joanne Ferriera. Just as I sat down to order, I'm informed of a phone call for me by one of the waitresses. I answer the phone and Marsha Brockway says that Matt had an "incident" at the Caldecott Tunnel on the way to breakfast and would not be making the ride. After the stun wore off I asked if he's OK. She said he said he was OK, but that she needed to bring a few items & the truck. After the low-side last month on the SMR, we started to think that Matt had eaten some bad juju. Michael Krone was just there for breakfast, and Steve still on his honeymoon Schurman arrived as we were preparing to leave. We had a nice little sprint out Marsh Creek Rd. and picked up Hwy-4 to Stockton. We headed into the foothills on Hwy-26 and were just getting wound up when we get into an area that's marked NO PASSING for the next 10 or so miles. |
