August 25th Meeting at
the Anchor Steam Brewery

Members: Bob Anders, Mark Anderson, Richard Brandt, Joel Buck, Charlie Ellis, Hans Koolhoven, Earl Minkler (& son Lee), René LaPrevotte, Patrick Lydon, Alan and Marilyn Macias, Patrick Moriarty, Jim Patt Alan Paul, Steve Schurman, & Pete Silva.
Guests:  Wade Boyd, René's female racer friend, and several others that the Professor didn't remember names for.

Thanks! to Patrick Moriarty for taking notes on the meeting before he had too much of that free beer.   President René called the meeting to order & the following items were discussed;

BBQ & Club Moto Night - On Thursday, Sept 23rd, meet at HK Cycles (196 Airway Blvd., Livermore, Ca.) at 6PM for a BBQ by Hans Koolhoven & Earl Minkler.  Then head over to Club Moto (north side of I-580 at the Greenville Rd. exit, east of Livermore) for an evening of Flat-trackin' & MX under the lights from 7-10PM.  Everyone is invited to bring their dirtbikes, motocrossers, and those new DP bikes to join in the fun.  Small bikes are allowed on the 1/8 mile dirt oval with any tires, but larger bikes must have a street/DP tire on the rear. The MX & dirt oval tracks will be open to all.  $5 spectator or $15 rider fees.

1999 Club Picnic - Taking the bear by the balls, President René LaPrevotte shrugged off the tradition of appointing a picnic planning committee and made an executive decision.  WhattaGuy!  The Club Picnic will be Oct. 2nd at the Paradise Beach Park on Paradise Drive, on the Tiburon Peninsula in Marin County, from 11AM to 8PM.  Parking is $7/car & $2/moto.  We voted to reimburse René $100 for the group reservation fee.  Food & beverages (soft drinks & beer) will be provided by the treasury for the families & guests of Northstars who have payed their '99 dues.  Please contact René (415-883-9092) to give him your head count, serving skills (if volunteering to help), & sports equipment you plan to bring.

The Old Hwy-40 Days Hillclimb weekend was discussed.  René showed on-bike video footage from 2 passes he made up the paved hillclimb course.

The official meeting came to a close so our host, Bob Anders, could give the group a tour of the brewery.  The Northstars would like to extend a special THANKS to Bob & the 2 other folks from Anchor who served up beer & hot dogs.

From the web . . .

Chris Denzler came down from the Seattle area to race at Donner & here's his race report for that weekend; <http://www.micapeak.com/tmp/donner.html>.   The CX he refers to is the bazaar creation of his evil twin, Dr. Frankendenzler.   It is an old Honda CX500 with the front end from a late '80s CR250 & some loooong shocks.  It was named the WTF500, as in "What the Fuck!", by his friends on WetLeather™.   Pictures of it & Chris can be found at <http://www.micapeak.com/Phil/wet99/a&w/a&w.htm>.

Honda has released info on their new Y2K models, including the new water-cooled XR650R & the RC51(RVT1000R).  See these links;
